“Thinking Reed” or Corbis Voluta is a creature, trembles, moves around or to somewhere in the fertile lands of slopes around the waterways. It seems like it’s up to something, some says it’s hunting; others believes it’s immigrating, all we know is that these are vital behaviors of this extraordinary organism. We also uncovered its unique hybrid structure like cyborg, which may offer clues about its behaviors and evolutionary past.

This work was completed with two outcomes, a short speculative documentary and a kinetic sculpture. The robotic object was dreamed and designed for the leading role in the short speculative documentary. It consists of a sphere made of reeds that contains robotic components enabling it to move.
